Dad granted legal control over Britney

In an emergency hearing Friday, Jamie Spears was granted temporary legal custody of daughter Britney until the next hearing on Monday.

Commissioner Reva Goetz said she felt it was in Spears' "best interest," and also gave Jamie Spears the right to "prosecute any civil harassment restraining orders." According to Court rep Allan Parachini, "there was a civil harassment restraining order issued against Sam Lutfi," the singer's pal and manager.

Spears' father will now have control over Spears' hospital visitors and can employ security guards. He has access to her finances and medical records and can speak to her doctors, although he does not currently have any authority over her treatment.

Jamie Spears and wife Lynne left the courtroom without speaking to reporters, but Lutfi spoke out before the decision was made: "I object to this. Britney is fully capable of handling her own finances. Her doctors are capable of handling her health care," Lutfi told People. "You'd think in a time like this, the family would be at the hospital taking care of their daughter, rather than fighting for her money. How sad."

Meanwhile, a source close to Spears' ex-husband, Kevin Federline, stated Federline is in support of the singer's hospitalization. "Kevin legitimately wants Britney to get better. He wants her to be in their sons' lives. He wants them to have a loving relationship. He wants her to get healthy so she can be the mother they need and deserve," the source said.
