Britney Spears Tapes VMA Promo…With an Elephant!

It’s Britney, b----!

After flopping during her Video Music Awards performance last year, Britney Spears was back on the MTV stage this week to tape a promo for the 2008 show.

“Britney looked really good,” a source tells People magazine.

“It was improvisational questions and answers with [host] Russell Brand just like [other promo guest stars] LL Cool J and Pete Wentz did. Russell joked about there being sexual tension, and Britney shot back, ‘I don’t feel the tension.’

“The other joke was about no one knowing who Russell was so she called him by the wrong name. LL called him Russell Bland and Britney called him Russell Brown.”

The shoot also included a 9,000 lb. elephant – a looming, tongue-in-cheek symbol of Britney’s disastrous rendition of her single “Gimme More” at last year’s VMAs.

Spears is up for two VMA awards this year: best female video and best pop video.

In any case, the pop star has a shot to redeem herself this year and walk away a winner, trophies or no trophies.
