Natalie Portman Helps Poor Women

Natalie Portman is endorsing "life-changing" micro-loans for the world's poorest women.

The 'V for Vendetta' actress has been working with FINCA International, an organisation which gives small loans to impoverished people in developing countries, and is fully behind the project.

Natalie, 25, told US TV show 'This Week': "I have met mothers younger than I am who were forced to work in poor conditions for low pay because that was the only job they could get.

"Getting this loan enables them to start their own business out of their own house and be with their children. It changes the whole system.

"If a woman can't tell her child, 'I can feed you tomorrow, I can pay for your school', then what happens? What do they do? What do they choose?

"It's really trying to reach the poorest of the poor and offering banking services to them."

David and Victoria Beckham are set to move into a £15 million mansion near Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

David and Victoria - who are moving Stateside in the summer after the soccer star signed a deal with Los Angeles Galaxy - are said to be keen on the seven-bedroom Beverly Hills property because of its secluded location.

A source said: "It's been a long process trying to find the ideal home but this one ticks the most boxes.

"The fact it is so close to Tom and Katie's house is ideal for Victoria."

The mansion boasts a tennis court, home cinema, swimming pool, seven bathrooms, six fountains, two acres of landscaped gardens and a separate guest apartment.

GOTHAM: What’s it like to have teenage girls cry hysterically when they see you?
ORLANDO BLOOM: It’s kind of sweet, you know. It’s a very pure and very real reaction, because they just lose it. I’m always amazed and very touched, because it’s an authentic response to a moment…. I remember being in Spain during the filming of Kingdom of Heaven. I was just talking to my mum on the phone and halfway through the conversation she asked, “What’s that in the background?” And I was like, “Um, it’s just a few girls screaming….” It was kind of a trip because it was the first time it had been like that. It’s not like that’s my life, though. It’s not like there are people camped outside my house.

G: What’s the most bizarre interaction you’ve had with a fan?
OB: In New York this girl kind of freaked out at me. I was being let out of a building and the security people were saying, “You’ve got to keep moving! You can’t stop! If you stop we’re going to have chaos in here!” But she got kind of aggressive with me and was really angry. She was like, “I’ve been at every premiere and you never say hello.” And it was funny, I felt really upset. I felt bad for her. So I turned around and went over to her and just gave her a hug and said, “It’s cool. I’m sorry you feel let down or disappointed. But the nature of my life is I can’t necessarily stop every time, and it’s not because I don’t want to.” I think she felt a little better afterward, and so did I. And for me, it actually shed a little light on the other side of the coin.

G: Which are worse, tabloids or bloggers?
OB: What’s a blogger?

G: Like PerezHilton.com….
OB: Right. It’s all the same thing. It’s sad to me that the celebrity culture has taken over in such a way that it overshadows a lot of what this industry is—or should be—about. It feels like it’s all about celebrity and fame and less about talent and ability. (source)

Lopez, who arrived at the bash with husband Marc Anthony in an elegant white Ralph Lauren pantsuit and Versace shoes, was honored for her signature style and glamour—a distinction that took her by surprise.

"It was unexpected," she told Usmagazine.com of receiving the top prize. Still, Lopez wanted to make sure she dressed to impress, telling Us, "It took me two hours to get ready, like every other girl."

Ashlee Simpson, who refuses to deny or confirm reports she had a nose job in April 2006, insists if people want to change their appearance it's fine as long as they do it for themselves.

Ashlee, 22, told Harper's Bazaar magazine: "I don't get bothered by people saying what they say. I'm a happy person and I'm happy with my looks. I'm not an insecure person.

"I believe if somebody chooses plastic surgery it should be for themselves, not for anyone else."

It was claimed last year that Ashlee turned to surgery because she felt like an "Ugly duckling" next to her elder sister, singer-and-actress JessicaSimpson, 26.
