Early 90s boy band New Kids on the Block are reportedly reuniting, according to People's exclusive source. Their previously dormant website is now up again, and the source said the band will announce their return within the next several weeks.
The band had sold over 50 million albums in their heydey, before splitting up in 1994. The members are Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre and Danny Wood.
In their time apart, all of the members - except for Jonathan Knight who developed a career in real estate - remained in the entertainment industry. Jordan Knight released a solo album, scored a top 10 hit, toured with *NSYNC and appeared on VH1's The Surreal Life in 2004. Joey McIntyre also released a solo album and had a top 10 hit, and later turned to television. He became a regular on Boston Public and in 2006 was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. Donnie Wahlberg followed in the footsteps of his brother, actor Mark Wahlberg. He appeared in The Sixth Sense, the mini-series Band of Brothers and was the lead role in Saw II. He also starred in the short-lived television series Boomtown and Runaway. Wood formed a record label in Boston, was featured on MTV's Totally Boyband and released several solo albums.
UPDATE:
Danny Wood just sent out the following bulletin on his MySpace page:
"Hello to everyone. Hope all is well and everyone is enjoying the New Year. I wanted to address the rumors of the NKOTB Reunion Tour. There has been no talk of this and you are getting it from source directly. Never say never, and you can't believe everything you read.
On another note my solo record will be released in Australia in March. There are a few new songs on it and I hope you guys will check it out. Thank you so much for your continued support.
Dwood"
