In celebrity news and gossip that has been swirling for weeks now, it now appears that actress Zooey Deschanel will be playing the character Betty Brant in the new Spider Man movie. Director Marc Webber believes that Deschanel, who has always had a unique fashion style, is just right for the character, a sexy secretary who was a minor character in the previous movies.
Other big names in the upcoming film include Tobey Maguire, Sally Field, Emma Stone, and Rhys Ifans. Deschanel will have to juggle the acting gig with her successful career as a singer and songwriter. Married to Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, she recently performed “God Bless America” during the seventh inning stretch of one of the NLCS games between the San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies to an appreciative crowd of 40,000.
