Tina Fey Honored with Mark Twain Award for Humor

Though she is probably most famous for her celebrity impersonation of 2008 vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Tina Fey has had a long and distinguished career in the field of comedy. Tuesday night she was honored in a made-for-television ceremony at the Kennedy Center in Washington, where she received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

Fey is also beloved by women for her unique celebrity fashion style that is basically a more put-together version of the “everywoman” look. Though she can and does shine on the red carpet, in her regular life, Fey looks like someone a typical woman might know. The most successful writer and producer of her generation, Fey, 40, has also managed to remain scandal-free, a rare feat in a world where celebrity news and gossip can be brutal.

Tiny Fey Invites More Criticism

Today I'd like to enter the fray on the discussion of Tina Fey's talent. She has talent and I watch 30 Rock which I love. However many in the media are using Tina Fey's "suck it" moment at the Golden Globes as her 'gotcha' moment. As if Tina had the last laugh on Internet hecklers.

I've seen her award thank you speech which I'll provide video for you to review here, and it was funny. Her timing was awesome, her humility was genuine, there really was nothing to criticize about the moment. The woman is smart and talented. But here it is... wait for it...

She is NOT that talented. OK... for a Golden Globe yes, but as AP's Entertainer of the Year? No offense Tina, but I'm sure you sat at home thinking the same as me when the announcement came... "What? Of all the talent this year, I entertained the most?"

Think about it folks. In the U.S. would you say you were most entertained by Tina Fey? For what? Her involvement on a TV show that nobody watches (according to the ratings) and a few appearances on Saturday Night Live? OK... you could count her TV commercial for Amex.

I have no problem with Tina Fey as a funny, smart comedy writer and on screen comedic acting. I have to wonder though what it says for our country that the best we can offer ourselves in entertainment is a comedian with limited exposure. In my book an Entertainer of the Year should be someone with broad range, maximum exposure and of course likability. Tina didn't make everyone happy with her on screen portrayal of Sarah Palin and that in itself excludes a great number of Americans from her likability rating. Having said that, I didn't like her insulting caricature of Palin but I still find her likable and talented. Yet I'm one person. And my opinion only counts in my column. Thanks for reading. While I don't expect Tina to single me out on a show, I am eager to see what Tina has to offer in 2009, AP won't be so hard up as to make her Entertainer of the Year in 2009. And if they do, then our state of entertainment in America is really in trouble.

Oh... and any would be anon commenter s that want to state I don't make Tina's money and I'm not as talented... I beat you to it. I'm not as talented and as for me never earning what she earns... My life is far from over.

Tina Fey's Scar Mystery Revealed!

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Tina Fey and her husband shared some pretty intimate details. Everyone has a scar or mark on their body with an interesting (or maybe, not-so-interesting) story behind it.

Fey opened up for the first time about the mysterious scar on her left cheek. It was the result of an attack by a stranger when she was only five years old. Tina says, "I'm kinda able to forget about it. Until I was on camera, and it became a thing of, 'Oh, I guess we should use this side.'"

Husband and composer Jeff Richmond was fascinated by the scar when he first met his future wife, he says, "This is somebody who, no matter what it was, has gone through something. And I think it really informs the way she thinks about her life. When you have that kind of thing happen to you, that makes you scared of certain things, that makes you frightened of different things, your comedy comes out in a different kind of way, and it also makes you feel for people."

Tina Fey Strikes Again

Just keeping our readers posted on yet another Tina Fey SNL moment. She appeared back on Saturday Night Live this weekend as Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin. SNL regular Jason Sudeikis impersonated Democratic VP nominee Joe Biden and guest star Queen Latifah as PBS journalist and debate moderator Gwen Ifill. Together, they parodied Thursday night’s debate between Palin and Biden. Hey, if you missed the debate, you can always check out this re-creation. Okay, so it wouldn't really be super accurate, but it may just make you smile! The audience seems to love Tina Fey as Sarah Palin.

Tina Fey Does Another 'Palin' SNL Skit

SNL alum and Sarah Palin look-alike, Tina Fey hit the nail on the head again this weekend with a pretty good impression of Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin. Tina Fey and her good pal Amy Poehler re-created the interview that Palin had with CBS anchor Katie Couric. Of course, this one on SNL on Saturday night is exaggerated but check it out to see the resemblance, people are loving Tina Fey as Sarah Palin.

Jennifer Aniston a Stalker?

Our favorite friend is moving over to 30 Rock. NBC announced yesterday that Jennifer Aniston will make a guest appearance on the upcoming season . Aniston is all set to play the free-spirited Claire Harper, the former roommate of Tina Fey, who will attach herself to Alec Baldwin.

The cast of 30 Rock couldn't be happier with Aniston, Fey was quoted saying "Jennifer is not only incredibly lovely to have around, she also has what the young people would call 'mad skills.' We're very excited that she's joining us."

Tina Fey to host 'SNL' return

Former head writer and Weekend Update co-anchor Tina Fey will host 'Saturday Night Live' on February 23. The episode marks the return of the NBC show following the writers' strike; it was the only late-night show completely on hiatus due to the negotiations.

"It's been a long dry spell without 'Saturday Night Live' on the air," said Rick Ludwin, head of late-night entertainment at NBC. "They've been sitting on the sidelines watching all this happening in politics and the primaries. 'SNL' thrives during an election year and they can't wait to get back on."

No musical acts have been announced as guests on the show.
