The former Destiny's Child singer was convinced she would be more successful if her brown skin was fairer.

Kelly told website Essence.com: "It's said that brown skinned girls don't sell magazines and that's so sad.

"I remember wishing I was more fair skinned, but Tina Knowles, Beyoncé's mom, would say, 'Don't you know how beautiful you are?' She made me come into my brown beauty. I didn't get it, but now I do."

Thanks to Tina's advice, Kelly insists she was able to accept herself for who she really is and be proud of her heritage.

The 26-year-old star said: "I am chocolate and beautiful and loving it!"

The hip-hop star popped the question during a romantic getaway to Cannes, and the singer-and-actress said yes.

Sources say Jay-Z promised Beyonce "the biggest diamond she can fit on her finger".

She tells US magazine Vibe, "First of all, I don't listen to the radio. If I do, it would be in the car on my way to a venue - but not consciously. I don't go on the internet."

Beyoncé, who teamed up with Shakira to record new track 'Beautiful Liar', admits the Colombian singer created most of their raunchy routine.

The 'Bootylicious' singer told People magazine: "Shakira taught me how to belly dance, she taught me the whole routine. I used to watch her videos and I thought she was so cool. When she was teaching me the moves I thought, 'This is crazy, Shakira is showing me how to belly dance!'

"I got the best teacher. We didn't have a lot of time to come up with the choreography - most of it was done on the spot. I was just watching her and learning from her. It was so much fun, the best energy. She was really easy to work with, so sweet and humble."

Beyonce Can Sing Spanish but Can't Speak It

"I just feel like I have to learn Spanish because I can sing it – I just can't speak it," Beyonce says in the new issue of PEOPLE En Español.

On April 3 she'll release a new version of her CD B-Day, which originally came out in September. This time, she's added six new songs – all sung in Spanish, including "Amor Gitano," the theme to the Telemundo telenovela Zorro, which she delivers as a duet with Alejandro Fernandez.

"A lot of my fans are Hispanic," she says, "and they've always told me, 'You should sing something in Spanish,' but I don't speak Spanish at all. I took it in school [so] I thought, let me give this a try."

And trying it was. "I did these songs phonetically, sentence by sentence, and I spent a lot of time ... making sure it was perfect, because I didn't want to disrespect the language, because it's so beautiful," says the Texas-born singer, 25, who brought help with her to the recording session.

"One of my best friends in the world is Cuban, so she was the test. I brought her to the studio and told her, 'Be honest. You have to tell me if anything is wrong.' So when she approved it, I knew everything was right."

And there was a further surprise in store for Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter - Beyonce whisked him off to see his favorite group Coldplay in concert in Mexico City.

Fellow holiday-makers claim Beyonce and Jay-Z looked happier than ever: "They were constantly hugging, smiling and looking very in love."

The singer-turned-actress has earned millions during her hugely successful career but admits she isn't comfortable being super-rich.

Beyoncé, who is reported to have made around $16 million last year alone, told Pride magazine: "I never imagined I would be so blessed. I just wanted to be financially stable and it embarrasses me. I don't feel comfortable talking or thinking about it. I'm not a flashy girl, and I don't flaunt it."

Meanwhile, Beyoncé's long-term lover Jay-Z has made himself even richer this week.

The rap mogul is selling his clothing company Rocawear to the Iconix Brand Group for a whopping $204 million.

Although Jay-Z is selling the company, he will remain in charge of all product development, marketing and licensing for the fashion business, which reportedly has annual retail sales in excess of $700 million.

Jay-Z said: "Iconix is pioneering a new brand management model and by combining Rocawear with their platform, my team and I can focus on our strengths in design and lifestyle."
