No Doubt Suing "Band Hero"
Not long ago, the makers of the popular video game Guitar Hero were under fire for using Kurt Cobain's likeness, which Courtney Love (the late rocker's wife) claimed she had not given permission for them to use. Now, the makers of a similar game, Band Hero, are being sued by Gwen Stefani's band No Doubt for fradulent inducement and breach of contract. The band wants their likeness removed from the videogame, as when they signed the deal to appear as avatars, they only agreed to three no Doubt tracks. In the actual game, the avatars perform over sixty songs by other artists, and Gwen Stefani's character can even be made to sing in a male voice. According to the lawsuit, this made the band feel as though the game was "transforming No Doubt band members into a virtual karaoke circus act." Since Activision (the creators of Band Hero)
