Suddenly Steven Seagal's movies are watchable again. Why? Turns out for 20 years he's been a cop! Not only does he play one in the movies, he is one. How can this be? How did everyone miss this? You can google him, and wiki him. There is no reference to him as a police officer.
Years ago while filming a movie in Louisiana the sheriff of Jefferson Parish asked Seagal to teach his men some martial arts skills. The experience lead to an ongoing relationship in which Seagal was made a full member of the force in Jefferson Parish.
For all these years between films Seagal would return to Jefferson Parish and serve the community without any fanfare or PR. Talk about integrity.
With the onset of reality TV, it seems A&E found out about his work and is featuring him in a show to air this fall: Lawman. Seagal may be making bad films over the past few years, but you can bet this show will be a hit. To see a real life movie star executing the daily tasks of a real police officer will be something to see. For all you doubters, check out the show's A&E trailer below.
