Scream Queen Dies
Hazel Court, the “scream queen” of horror films in the 1950s and 1960s, died on Wednesday at the age of 82 from a heart attack.
Playing women with cleavage and the ability to die gracefully in both British and American films, Hazel Court starred in The Premature Burial, The Masque of the Red Death, and The Curse of Frankenstein.
She is known best for her role in Roger Corman’s 1963 film adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven, where she co-starred with Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, and Peter Lorre.
Before her death, Court had completed an autobiography titled Hazel Court — Horror Queen which will be published in Britain.
