Simon Cowell wants Zac Efron to do Saturday Night Fever

Simon Cowell wants to produce a remake of the 1977 disco film, Saturday Night Fever, and he wants Zac Efron for the lead role. In the original film John Travolta was the lead role of Tony Manero, who disco danced to Bee Gee's songs. In Simon's remake hip-hop producer, Timberland, will rework some of the Bee Gee's hits.

Simon is working with producer Robert Stigwood to obtain rights to the film. Nothing about the film has been set in stone yet. When Simon can meet the expectations of Robert Stigwood contracts will begin to get signed. Will Zac be game for another film in which he must sing and dance? He has recently turned down Footloose because he no longer wants to do those types of films.

New part for Zac Efron

Disney cutie Zac Efron is definitely moving on into some more adult roles. He is the latest celebrity to have a cameo on HBO's hit series Entourage. Efron was spotted filming scenes for the show at a Niketown store in Beverly Hills. Store employees claim Zac was very professional and friendly, and the scenes for the show quickly filmed in the store before they opened for business.

The new season of Entourage will premiere on July 12th and some other special guest stars include rapper Lil' Wayne and athlete Tom Brady!

Zac Efron is out and Chace Crawford is in for Footlose remake

Chace Crawford has been cast to play the lead role in the upcoming remake of the 1984 film Footloose. The film will be directed by High School Musical's Kenny Ortega and was originally going to star Zac Efron. But he decided not to take the role because he is looking to expand the types of movie roles he takes on. "I want to grow a bit with the types of movies I want to make," Efron said. "It was more along the lines that I was looking for a new challenge, and this was another musical."

Chace accepted the role after scheduling conflicts with Gossip Girl were ironed out. He will step in to fill the shoes of Kevin Bacon in the remake that is set to start shooting in March 2010.

Who will play Chace's leading lady in the movie? There has been no definite decision yet, but Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes and even Miley Cyrus are some of the names that have been floating around.

Zac 'I Don't Sing & Dance Anymore' Efron

Looks like Zac Efron doesn't want to just be known as a song and dance man anymore. We think it's a little too late for that. The 21-year-old actor recently dropped out of Footloose, the upcoming remake of the 1984 musical.

“Footloose is a project we’ve longed to see re-booted for a new generation. While Zac is no longer attached, we remain excited and committed to the collective brain trust of [director] Kenny Ortega, [producers] Neil Meron and Craig Zaden, who will reinvigorate the franchise,” a Paramount Pictures rep told Us Weekly Monday. “Their fresh take on the film will undoubtedly be filled with the same kind of breakout performances that we’ve come to expect from them.”

We're sure the movie may still be successful - everyone loves a good musical. But we don't know what to think about Zac sudden change of heart. He better not pull a 'Bachelor' on us and decide he wants back in again!

Beyonce Hard At Work

Yesterday afternoon, Beyonce was busy logging the hours during a brand new music video shoot on the beaches of Malibu. We are liking this flowing green dress she's rocking, very sheek!
What's the latest with Beyonce? It was just announced that Beyonce will be taking the stage this Sunday night at the Academy Awards. Hugh Jackman is hosting this year, very excited!

Miss Knowles will be teaming up with High School Musical co-star couple Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, as well as host Hugh Jackman and Mamma Mia!’s Amanda Seyfried in a song and dance piece during the show. That should be interesting! Was 'Zanessa' the best that the Oscars could do this year as far as performers? No offense, guys, but really!

Zac Efron In "17 Again"

No more High School Musical for Zac Efron (thank god!). He's coming out with a new movie in April called, 17 Again, which also stars Leslie Mann, Michelle Trachtenberg, Melora Hardin (The Office), Hunter Parrish (Weeds) and Adam Gregory (90210). This official movie poster was just released for the film.

The film is about a man (Matthew Perry) who gets to turn back time and be seventeen again (Efron) rewriting his life in the process. We're sure it will be entertaining but let's face it, it doesn't scream Oscar.

What else has Efron been up to lately besides hanging out with girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens? It was announced recently that TV design show host Kenneth Brown will be designing Zac’s new home in the Hollywood Hills. Thrilling. Ha!

For more info, visit 17AgainMovie.com.

17 Again hits theaters on Friday, April 17th!

Zac Efron will portray Kevin Bacon in remake of Footloose

The 21-year-old has been snapped up after the box office success of High School Musical 3.

He will play Ren McCormack — portrayed by KEVIN BACON first time around.

The remake has been in the works for some time but is now being fast-tracked to capitalise on the massive success of Disney’s HSM franchise and the “Zac factor”.

Footloose, released in 1984, launched Kevin Bacon’s movie career.

This month, Bacon, 50, gave Efron’s rumoured part in the flick his blessing. He said: “I think it’s a great idea. He’s a great choice. He’s very talented.”

The film, scheduled for release in 2010, will see Efron tie up again with KEVIN ORTEGA, the director of all three High School Musicals.

It is understood the movie will also be a musical featuring new songs as well as originals such as Deniece Williams’ Let’s Hear It For The Boy, and Bonnie Tyler’s Holding Out For A Hero.

The film’s soundtrack went on to become one of the biggest-selling albums of the decade.

Disney has confirmed that a fourth High School Musical will be made — but Efron has announced to fans his character Troy Bolton will not be returning.

Vanessa Hudgens has admitted that she loves snuggling up to boyfriend Zac Efron.

The couple got together 2 years ago when they were making teen movie High School Musical.

And Vanessa – who plays his on-screen love - says she has no problems getting close to him on set.

‘He’s hot!’ she tells Ellen DeGeneres on her chat show. ‘Yes [he’s a good kisser] - we kiss in the movie.’

Last week Vanessa helped Zac celebrate his 21st birthday by hosting a dinner party in LA.

But she still hasn't had chance to give him a present.

‘I haven't given it to him yet, I'm kind of late,’ she added. ‘It's something for a house.’

Zac Efron's deadly rumours

Zac Efron's mother was left devastated when she heard a rumour her son had died.

The 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' star was the victim of an inaccurate story published by a foreign newspaper claiming he had been killed.

He said: "I was really shocked to find out - and my mom was really upset too when I called and told her."

The 20-year-old actor also admits he is not a very good dancer, despite leading many of the set-pieces in all three of the hit Disney films.

He added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "I'm definitely not a dancer. I grew up being into sports and I wasn't trained to move my body in the right way for dancing.

"I'm the last one to get any moves correct. In rehearsals it's always, 'OK, one more take for Zac.' "

Zac has previously said he would love to star in a remake of classic musical 'Grease', which originally starred John Travolta.

He said: "If John was involved I'd do it. But without his consent there's no way I could ever attempt a role like that. That's too hard, he's just too cool. He's a stud!"

HSM Stars In Paris, France

High School Musical teen stars have been busy promoting their new installment around the world lately. Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron (everyone's favorite guilty pleasure couple) met up with co-star and friend Ashley Tisdale in Paris, France. The couple was previously in Sweden doing some press for High School Musical 3. The Disney stars are set to travel to Spain, Germany and England before heading back to the States.

We're sure when High School Musical 3: Senior Year opens in theaters at the end of October here in The States, it will be a pretty big monster at the box office. The public just can't get enough from the singing and dancing stars in the flicks! What's your favorite HSM song? I'm partial to the cute little duets between Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriela (Vanessa Hudgens). Ha!

Nikki Blonsky has confessed her love for fellow Hairspray actor and buddy Zac Efron.

Speaking for the first time since her arrest last month, the teenager gushed about how Zac is always there for her when she needs him the most.

The actress leaned on Zac recently when she was busted over an airport splat with America's Next Top Model contestant Bianca Golden and her family in an Airport.

Perhaps there will be a few tribute love songs in her upcoming New York performance of Broadway, the Great American Songbook?

If the Hairspray actress wants to make her move we think they would be great together - after all he loves his ladies to be a bit naughty.

Claire Danes & Zac Efron (No, They're Not Dating!)

To me, Claire Danes is one of the most underrated celebs out there, I think she's so amazingly beautiful! Zac Efron and Danes were on hand at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of “Me and Orson Welles.” The two are co-stars in the movie and it's getting pretty good buzz. I'd love to see Efron in a non- High School Musical role again.

In the movie, Efron plays a teen hired to star in an Orson Welles production of Julius Caesar, whereupon he falls for the ambitious production assistant played by Danes. Sounds fun!

Zac Efron wants to star in a 'Grease ' remake

Zac Efron wants to star in a 'Grease' remake.

The 'High School Musical' heartthrob admits he would love to step into John Travolta's shoes as gang leader Danny Zuko in the musical movie, but only with the legendary actor's consent.

Zac - who appeared alongside John in the recent film version of hit musical 'Hairspray' - said: "If John was involved I'd do it. But without his consent there's no way I could ever attempt a role like that. That's too hard, he's just too cool. He's a stud!"

The 20-year-old actor also revealed he is happy to star in more musicals after the success of his Disney movie franchise, and is convinced Hollywood will continue making all-singing, all-dancing films.

Zac added: "I love musicals! I've noticed that various movie studios want to get involved with making musicals and I think it's great. They're making a comeback and so I think there should be more in the pipeline. Any time there's a musical, I'm up for being on board. It's fun."

Zac Efron was a 'nerd' in school

Zac Efron was a "nerd" at school.

The 'High School Musical' star admits he wasn't very popular with girls when he was growing up and was never in a cool "clique".

He said: "I didn't get much attention from chicks. I was the short kid in high school. I was, like, 5ft 6in. But as soon as I left and started working then I started to grow up a little bit. I wasn't really the cool guy or the skater dude. I had a group of friends but we weren't like a clique or anything like that. I tried really hard, I got good grades and I was in advanced classes. If you had to call me something you'd probably call me a nerd."

Zac, 20, admits he still isn't comfortable with his heartthrob status since he shot to fame playing Troy Bolton in the hit Disney movies.

He added: "It's OK. Luckily, it's not something I really have to deal with too much. I suppose I would be an OK role model. I don't do much wrong - I'm not really into the Hollywood party scene."

Zac Efron: I can be cocky and arrogant!

Actor admits he could easily get carried away

Zac Efron says he'd definitely become arrogant if given the chance.

But the High School Musical heartthrob, who's dating Vanessa Hudgens, says he has too many people keeping him grounded.

‘If I gave the slightest hint of having a big head I’d be chopped down so quick by family and friends,’ he admits.

‘I’d love to be cocky and wear sunglasses every day and drink my iced blended coffee but I have too many people pulling me back.’

Zac, 20, insists he prefers the quiet life.

‘I like to read – everything from novels to comic books,’ he tells OK! ‘It’s kind of a shame but I’m just a regular dude.

'I always go back home every chance I get. I love seeing my family and going surfing.'
