Actress Reese Witherspoon, who a year ago was the subject of much celebrity gossip about her relationship with actor Jake Gyllenhaal, has recently got engaged to Hollywood agent Jim Toth. The two have been dating for about a year and got together after her split with Gyllenhaal. It will be the second marriage for Witherspoon, who has two children from a former marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe, from whom she was divorced in 2008.

The happy couple was engaged over the Christmas holidays after having dated for nearly a year. No word on what Witherspoon’s latest fashion accessory – her engagement ring – looks like, but word is that “price wasn’t an issue,” so it’s bound to be stunning. Toth was recently named the head of CAA’s motion picture talent department in September.

Actors Ryan Phillippe, 35, and Abbie Cornish, 27, have called it quits after four years of dating. The actress was seen on Sunday removing her belongings from the house they shared.

The ex-couple met on the set of their film, Stop-Loss. Cornish and Phillippe survived intense attacks from the media, following Phillippe's divorce from actress Reese Witherspoon.

This break-up comes after months of speculation regarding Phillippe's night life. He was spotted partying at night clubs and being linked with several women. "Abbie ended the relationship with Ryan and she moved out of their home," a rep comments.

The actress, who stars in the movie Four Christmases, says it came round too quickly.

‘I walked into Starbucks and they were playing Christmas music,’ she recalls.

‘I had a panic attack, yelling, “Turn it off, I'm not ready. I still have to get through Thanksgiving!"’

‘There are things in my life that are hard to reconcile, like divorce,’ she tells Parade.

'Sometimes it is very difficult to make sense of how it could possibly happen.'

Reese Witherspoon and boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal are planning to buy a home together in London.

The couple, who have been dating for over a year after meeting on the set of 'Rendition', are reportedly looking at apartments and townhouses in the UK capital's exclusive Mayfair district.

A source told the Chicago Sun Times newspaper: "Reese was extremely concerned about security issues. She seemed to particularly like places where they could enter and exit not directly onto the street. That's not always an easy thing in Central London, especially Mayfair. But we were able to come up with a couple of places both she and Jake seemed to like."

Jake fell in love with London after shooting scenes for his new movie 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' in the city.

Friends of the couple are confident the relationship will last, saying they are more in love than ever.

One pal revealed: "I am convinced they will eventually marry and I really think it will be for good. I know we're talking about Hollywood stars, but these two have something special."

"[Jake] knows he might be jumping the gun thinking of kids, but he knows that Reese is the one," a friend of the actor told OK! "He laughs and says he needs to propose and do this the right way. It really is first comes love, then comes marriage — cheesy as that sounds, it's the way he thinks!"

According to the magazine, Gyllenhaal has grown so fond of Witherspoon's children with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, 8-year-old Ava and 4-year-old Deacon, that he wants to have his own kids with the actress.

"Reese has admitted that Jake has grown from when they first met into this very dependable dad type," said a friend of Witherspoon. "He's ready to have his whole life change."

While the two A-listers have kept mum on reports about their friendship turning into romance when they shot the upcoming thriller, Rendition, I’m told they appeared to be way into each other last night.

The maybe-couple were at Carrie Fisher’s L.A.-area home for a party toasting singer Rufus Wainwright, who earlier in the evening had appeared at the Hollywood Bowl performing his almost exact replica of Judy Garland’s legendary 1961 concert at Carnegie Hall.

"Jake and Reese were sitting by the fire all night, talking," a fellow party guest tells me. "Everyone was talking, laughing and celebrating Rufus, but they were deep, deep in conversation. It was like there was no one else in the world."

So, who else was in attendance? Among the boldfaced names in the crowd were James Blunt, Dita von Teese, David Geffen, Barry Diller, Fisher’s ex and CAA honcho Bryan Lourd, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Kate Pierson of the B-52's and Fisher’s mom, Debbie Reynolds.

Sheryl Crow has hired the same nanny as Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon.

The singer, who officially adopted baby Wyatt Steven two weeks ago, has hired celebrity nanny Myra - who previously looked after Julia's twins and Reese's son Deacon - to help care for the infant.

Sheryl showed off her new baby boy to the public for the first time during a shopping trip in Malibu at the weekend.

The 45-year-old musician sat down to bottle-feed her son in the middle of a Ralph Lauren store, accompanied by Myra.

Sheryl took Wyatt home a day after his birth on April 29, but adoption papers were only finalised this month.
