Winehouse to perform at Grammys via satellite

Although Amy Winehouse's visa was denied, thus preventing her from attending Sunday's 50th Annual Grammy Awards, she has found a way to still perform!

The troubled British singer, who was nominated in six categories, will perform material from her album, Back to Black, via satellite. Grammy officials announed that she will sing from a London studio.

Winehouse was nominated for Record of the Year ("Rehab"), Album of the Year (Back to Black), Song of the Year ("Rehab"), Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance ("Rehab") and Best Pop Vocal Album (Back to Black).

Winehouse and Kanye West, who has eight nominations, are expected to dominate the awards this year.

UPDATE: Winehouse's visa eventually came through, but not in time for her to travel to Los Angeles to attend the Grammys. According to her representatives, she will continue with the backup plan to perform via satellite.

Amy Winehouse Unable to Attend Grammys

British singer Amy Winehouse was temporarily released from rehab on Monday, so she could apply for a US visa, where she was subsequently turned-down by the US Embassy.

The terms of her treatment dictated that the twenty-four-year-old star be under supervision at all times, and she went to the US Embassy accompanied by both her father and a nurse.

Although it is believed that she was seeking a visa so she could attend the Grammys in LA on Feb 10th, her reps issue a statements claiming "The appointment at the U.S. Embassy was made some time ago and was part of process for obtaining a visa. No decision has been made about the Grammys.”

After she was arrested in Norway last October for possession of cannabis, Winehouse was banned from the US. The star was turned down for a visa by the US Embassy in London, and will be forced to stay in rehab.

Her rep also claims that “Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago and although disappointed with the decision has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery.”

Winehouse has been nominated for six awards, and ironically, Amy’s single “Rehab” is up for both record and song of the year.
