The Tyra Show Comes To An End

Tyra Banks announced that the fifth season of The Tyra Show will be its last. Banks ended the show because she wants to focus on her production company, Bankable Productions. She stated, "I've been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past five years."

Tyra is following Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey in an attempt to bring more positive images of women on to the big screen. On her website, she indicated that she has several projects "cooking right now." America's Next Top Model and True Beauty will continue to air although The Tyra Show is ending.

Angelina Jolie Named Most Powerful Celebrity

Move over Oprah, Angelina Jolie is taking over as the world's most powerful celebrity. Forbes Magazine recently published its 100 most powerful celebrities list ranking Angelina Jolie as number one. Oprah had held the number one spot for the past two years. The list is made up of celebrities from TV, film, music, fashion, food and sports all ranked in order based on earnings and media exposure. Even though Oprah earned $275 million and Angelina earned just $27 million last year, Angelina beat Oprah due to her continuous appearances in magazines, TV, radio, newspaper and websites.

Oprah was knocked to number two, but the top five included big names such as Madonna, Beyonce and Tiger Woods. Obama also made the list at number 49, making him the first sitting head of state to make the list. Some newcomers to this years list were Taylor Swift, Toby Keith, and Alec Baldwin.

Talk Show Hosts Collide

May as well call them new BFF's. Ellen DeGeneres announced on Thursday night (March 20) that she’ll finally get her wish and be on the cover of “O” Magazine. The 51-year-old talk show host has been trying to get on the cover of Oprah’s magazine.

It's been a topic that has come up during her show for weeks! Oprah made a guest appearance on Friday’s taping of the Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about “the fantastic idea.”


Ellen first broke the news on her twitter page saying, “Oprah just asked me to be on the cover of “O” magazine!” People are really Twittering like crazy. It's the new Facebook!

The Associated Press is reporting that the infamous Santa Ana winds (also known as the Santana winds) of Southern California -- referenced in literally thousands of places, including The Doors' "L.A. Woman" (lyric quoted above) -- is partially to blame for the fires that have destroyed thousands of homes.

And, now, we come to find out that actor Christopher Lloyd has just lost his home to the fires.

The 70 year-old former Back to the Future actor's eight-acre property burned to the ground when the fires broke out.

As for Lloyd, he was filming in Vancouver when the fire hit his house. Luckily, a caretaker was able to flee the property safely. But, his $6 million home was one of over 100 luxury properties that has since burned down.

As of today, around 5,400 homes have been evacuated from and 13 people have been injured.

And, scary enough, some residents were getting trapped at home.

Rob Lowe, the actor from The West Wing, told how he had to flee with his children as the fires were approaching his home. He also mentioned how his family stopped to check on neighbors and found some of them trapped behind their automatic car gates that were stuck due to the power shutting down.

Lowe told a local news reporter that, "Embers were falling. Wind was 70 miles an hour easily and it was just like Armageddon. You couldn't hear yourself think."

Part of Westmont College also burned down, causing students to spend the night in a gym shelter.

Our thoughts go out to the fire victims, fire fighters, and all of those who are working so hard to help out during such a devastating time.

Charlie Sheen makes a ridiculous $800,000 an episode for his TV show Two and a Half Men, which makes him the highest paid actor on a series. And after filming 23 episodes a year he banks just under $20 million a year. The NO.2 spot goes to fellow CBS star William Petersen, who makes $600,000 an episode for portraying investigator Gil Grissom on the "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."

As for the highest paid actresses Mariska Hargitay was No. 1 for TV drama, earning $400,000 an episode for her role as a detective on NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." TNT's "The Closer" star Kyra Sedgwick makes the No.2 spot, earning $275,000 per episode.

But that seems like couch change when you throw the Kings and Queen of TV in the mix. Oprah was named 2008's most powerful celebrity by Forbes magazine. She earns $385 million a year for hosting her daytime talk show. Oprah puts on pounds as she overdoes on the dolce vita in Italy

Everyone's entitled to dump their diet and relax a little on holiday.

And it appears U.S. TV titan Oprah Winfrey has done just that after she was spotted enjoying the best food and drink on offer as she vacations in Italy.

As one of the celebrity world's most famous yo-yo dieters, it appears Oprah appears to be losing her battle with the bulge again.

Stepping out in a figure-hugging white top and flowing skirt, Oprah's fuller frame was on show for all to see.

Following a brief trip to Britain, where she attended Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday party, the billionaire business tycoon flew to Italy for a well-earned break.

Joined by best friend Gayle King, the 54-year-old has been enjoying the sights of picturesque Portofino, one of this summer's most popular celeb hotspots.

Despite being a small fishing village with a population of just 521, Portofino is a popular tourist draw in Italy and boasts a picturesque harbour, a 16th century castle and 17 metre high statue of Jesus Christ amongst its attractions.

After browsing local shops and signing autographs for fans, a relaxed Oprah enjoyed some alfresco dining as she sipped liquer and munched on olives while chatting with Gayle.

Forbes' Celebrity 100 List

Forbes released its Celebrity 100 list, a power ranking based on fame and earnings, and Oprah Winfrey was once again at the top. Despite her decline in TV ratings and magazine circulations, the household name earned $275 million (before taxes) in the last year alone.

Golfer Tiger Woods was second, followed by Angelina Jolie. Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt (No. 10) were just one of the couples in the Top 10. Beyoncé Knowles and her new husband, Jay-Z, were fourth and seventh respectively.

Some teen stars also made the list, led by Disney star Miley Cyrus. She was joined by Daniel Radcliffe of 'Harry Potter' fame, as well as Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale of 'High School Musical,' and the pop trio the Jonas Brothers.

Johnny Depp was the highest-ranked actor on the list, at sixth place.

This year's power ranking also featured 27 newcomers. They included the band The Police, Steve Carell, Jon Stewart and Lauren Conrad.

Tom Cruise's Oprah visit

Tom Cruise was on The Oprah Winfrey Show today, his first time back since the infamous couch-jumping debacle three years ago. During the hour-long interview taped at the actor's Telluride, Colo. home, Cruise seemed serious and thoughtful, a move Hollywood public representatives deemed smart.

"I think Tom learned his lesson. The lesson was that sometimes your personal beliefs can get in the way of the projects," said Howard Bragman, founder of Los Angeles PR firm Fifteen Minutes. "And you don't want people to be turned off to you so that they’re turned off to your projects."

When the talk show host asked Cruise if he felt like he came under attacks because of his beliefs in Scientology, he said he understood that people are interested in "a minority religion."

Michael Levine, a Hollywood media expert, said Cruise should "cool the Scientology stuff. That's grown very wearisome for a lot of Americans... There's certainly no problem with him stating his religious choice is different from the majority, but when he gets aggressive and starts pushing it, there is some blowback."

It seems like Cruise agreed, because he also told Oprah, "when I'm dealing with my humanitarian issues, I'll talk about my humanitarian issues, and when I'm promoting a film, I'm just going to promote the film. And that’s just the way it's going to be."

Cruise also said he regretted the remarks he made about antidepressants, when he criticized Brooke Shields for using the medication to treat postpartum depression, and that his views "came out wrong."

"I personally don't [believe in antidepressants]. ... But I think that people have the - it's their decision. When you look at something, it's an individual's right to make a decision on what they"re going to do with their life," he said.

Cruise also addressed his bizarre behavior during his last visit to the Oprah Winfrey Show, admitting that it set off a "confluence" of bad publicity for him. But he said he was not sure if he would take his antics back.

"That was a moment, and it was real, and I don't know if I would [do it differently]," Cruise said. "I really don't."

The interview was just the first in a two-part series commemorating the 25-year anniversary of Cruise's breakout film "Risky Business." The second part, a celebration of Cruise's movie career, was taped before an audience in Winfrey's Chicago studio and will air Monday.

Tom Cruise in talks for M:I4

Sources close to Tom Cruise have told Access Hollywood the actor is in talks with Paramount about making Mission: Impossible 4. Paramount produced all of the prior Mission: Impossible films.

Cruise played super agent Ethan Hunt in the first Mission: Impossible film in 1996, and it grossed $467 million worldwide in the box office. 2000's Mission: Impossible 2 yielded $545 million at the global box office, and 2006's "Mission: Impossible 3 had $395 million in ticket sales.

Although Cruise and Sumner Redstone, the CEO of Paramount, had a public dispute in 2006 when the studio ended its relationship with Cruise's production company following the actor's fall from grace, the two have reportedly been seen in Los Angeles restaurants together.

In other Cruise news, 61-year-old singer Cher revealed to Oprah that she had a relationship with the actor earlier in his career. In the taped interview, to be aired on The Oprah Winfrey Show next week, Cher said she dated Cruise when he was 23-years-old and an emerging star.

She said Cruise was finding life in the spotlight difficult and that it could have been a "great big romance because I was crazy for him."

"He was shy," she said in an excerpt of the interview published by Sky News. "He said he felt like such a boob in school and nobody talked to him. We went on a date once for dinner in a New York restaurant and the waitress was from his old school."

"He told me she never talked to him back in school, but now he was recognized he got all her attention," Cher said.

Her fling with the now 45-year-old actor is believed to have ended when he met first wife Mimi Rogers.

Tom Cruise's appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show to commemorate the 25-year anniversary of his breakout film Risky Business have already been taped, a source close to production told the Associated Press Wednesday. The two-part interview includes a snowmobile ride, a frank discussion of his media image and candid talk about his personal life.

"In his 25 years in the business, Tom Cruise has become the epitome of a true Hollywood star," Warner Home Video senior vice president and general manager Jeff Baker said in a statement Wednesday. "We are very proud of this timeless classic and the film that became his breakthrough role."

How could you forget?

Well the actor is returning to the show, his first appearance since June 23, 2005, when he made headlines for jumping on the couch and professing his love for Katie Holmes.

The show will probably air during May sweeps, perhaps to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Cruise's hit debut in "Risky Business" this summer.

There are currently "special plans" being made for the anniversary, a rep for Warner Home Video confirmed. The details are not yet set in stone, but other celebrities have been contacted about appearing on the show to celebrate the movie milestone.

Publicists for Cruise and "The Oprah Winfrey Show" were both unavailable for comment.

Rachael Ray Is A Racist Fatso

Perky talk show host Rachael Ray made disparaging racial remarks about the woman who gave Ray her big shot at daytime TV -- none other than Oprah Winfrey, according to TMZ sources. It's a shocking account of a dinner that occurred during the period that the show was being sold.

Rewind to December 3, 2005. Ray was at the Century City Shopping Mall in Los Angeles for a book signing. Reps from King World, the production company that was syndicating the show, were shooting the event for its sales presentation.

At around 7:00 PM, Ray, along with seven others, went to Houston's Restaurant in the mall. They sat in a booth in the far right rear of the restaurant. Ray ordered fish and complained to the table it was dry. She was also drinking red wine and lots of it -- one source says a minimum of four big glasses.

We're told Ray became "extremely loud and aggressive," and began dissing Oprah. Sources say she told the group about a portrait of Oprah that sits in the lobby of Harpo Productions in Chicago. It's from the movie "Beloved" and shows Winfrey's back, enhanced with scars. She's also wearing a skirt from the slavery era.

Back at the table, sources say Ray launched into attack mode: "Why is she wearing slave drag? She obviously has problems being black."

But Oprah wasn't Ray's only target. Sources say she told the group how much she liked Jennifer Aniston." Angelina is a "skanky, backdoor c**t." and then called Brad Pitt a "pussy boy." But her harshest comments were reserved for Angelina Jolie, calling her "a skanky, backdoor c**t."

TMZ contacted the Director of Publicity for Rachael Ray, Charlie Dougiello, who said, "Rachael did attend the dinner referenced and enjoyed wine and good conversation with friends and colleagues. She denies making any of the comments referenced. In fact, there are several words that are attributed to Rachael that she has never uttered in her life."

Dougiello added, "Neither in public nor in private has Rachael made a disparaging or cruel remark about her friend and mentor, Oprah, nor a celebrity couple she has never even met."

Dougiello also said, "There were several associates of Rachael's at that table who, unprompted, agreed that Rachael never made any of the comments she is being accused of making... and it seems very convenient that these accusations are being levied at a time when Rachael's success has focused the public eye on her."

Oprah Is Richest Female Entertainer

Oprah Winfrey has topped the first Forbes magazine Richest Women Entertainers List. The big business publication estimates the media mogul has made a staggering $1.5 billion in her career as a newscaster, talk show host, publisher and actress.

Winfrey tops Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who comes in second with a $1 billion fortune, while US lifestyle queen Martha Stewart rounds out the top three with $638 million.

Madonna ranks fourth on the new list, followed by Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston.
