PCM Movie Review: Funny People

Is it me or when you go to see a movie titled Funny People, you expect the people in it to be funny? The film Funny People is about a famous comedian (Adam Sandler) who has a near-death experience, and tries to make his life right before her dies. Adam Sandler, Eric Bana, Jason Schwartzman, RZA and newcomer Aubrey Plaza join a cast that reunites Judd Apatow with Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann and Jonah Hill in their third comedy together.

Khushbu and I ventured to the movie theater Friday for what we thought would be an afternoon of laughs. We both found the movie to be an epic fail. It was drawn out to 2 hr. and 15 mins. with only a few choice laughs the entire time. It was difficult just to stay awake. The jokes were pathetic and tried way to hard. Most of the time it was just a bunch of awkward scenes shoved together. Comedian veteran, Adam Sandler lost major points with this film from me. Could it be that Adam Sandler is losing his touch? Also, Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill seemed to lack their usual flare. This film was beyond disappointing with a lame ending to boot. I would recommend waiting for it to come out on DVD, but I think even that would be a waste of time

Pineapple Express may get Sequel!

The underground hit Pineapple Express starring Seth Rogen may get a sequel according to it's star. In an interview with MTV Seth is quoted: "Of all the movies we've done, that's the only one that I would actually like to do a sequel to," he said. "And we talked about it."

If that is not cool enough news for you, James Franco whom also starred in Pineapple has let on to a combined sequel of both Superbad and Pineapple Expresss! He actually gave up that the flick would be divided by directors Greg Motolla (Superbad) and David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express). "I could sell them [the characters from 'Superbad'] something, but I think we'd want some action, so you know, somehow the kids get in trouble somehow and we have to get them out of it," How do you account for Seth playing a different character from each movie? "So somehow we'd have to kill one of them off." You could say Franco has really thought it through.

I have to say, I think Seth Rogen's quote carries more weight.

Seth Rogen on SNL

This was a big weekend for Seth Rogen with Monsters vrs Aliens (he voices Bob the blob), Observe and Report is next and he appeared on SNL. He slimmed down too, must be for his Green Arrow movie.

Speaking of SNL, What was better his monologue (the running joke was Seth losing weight) or The Fast and Bi-Curious? You'll need a bag to breath in, this stuff was funny!

Seth Rogen's Tearful Diet

Seth Rogen has tantrums when he can't eat.

The 'Knocked Up' star has shed 30lbs for his role in new comic book adaptation 'The Green Hornet' - in which he plays the crime-fighting vigilante of the same name - but doesn't think he will be able to maintain his new slimline figure when filming ends because dieting has made him so emotional.

I lost the weight for a role, but I don't know if I'll keep it off
He said: "I lost the weight for a role, but I don't know if I'll keep it off. That's the big question. I have a lot of tantrums. I want my food. I cry for no reason."

The actor is adamant he wouldn't have lost the weight if the role didn't require it and admits he feels like a "sell-out" for trying to alter his body shape.

He recently said: "I'm selling out guys. It's the lamest thing ever. It's for 'The Green Hornet' - the only reason. There's no other reason. I think it serves the movie."

Despite winning praise for his new figure, Seth has previously insisted his long-term girlfriend Lauren Miller is indifferent about his new look.

He said: "She's stuck by me through thick and thin - literally! She claims she doesn't like me any more now than when I was heavier, but I think that's completely not true."

Seth Rogan's Green Hornet Gets New Director

In the never ending dilemma plaguing the Sony film Green Hornet, a new director has been hired to replace Stephen Chow; Michel Gondry whom made a name for himself using Bullet Time in music videos before the Matrix movies. Gondry's hit Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind put him under great pressure to repeat and he has yet to experience that success again.

The Green Hornet is one of those characters in the comic book world that has no special abilities as a vigilante with car named the Black Beauty that had more abilities than himself. In fact during the late 1960's Green Hornet was even upstaged by his sidekick Kato who was played by little known martial artist... Bruce Lee. Oddly enough the ex-director Stephen Chow is rumored to possibly be sticking around to play the part of Kato.

Seth Rogen Posing For Playboy

Seth Rogen is to pose for Playboy magazine.

The 'Knocked Up' actor will become only the ninth male cover star in the magazine's history when he appears in the March 2009 issue.

It is believed he will pose alongside model Hope Dworaczyk.

Other men to have graced the cover of the adult publication include Peter Sellers, Steve Martin, Jerry Seinfeld and Burt Reynolds.

Meanwhile Playboy's risque reputation was tarnished this week when a former Playmate of the Year, Sara Jean Underwood, claimed the magazine's founder Hugh Hefner - who is renowned for having several live-in lovers - imposes strict rules on his girlfriends.

Sara said: "They're young girls and they should be out there partying, but they had strict curfews and had to be in by nine o'clock."

Three of Hugh's girlfriends, Kendra Wilkinson, Bridget Marquardt and Holly Madison - stars of reality TV show 'Girls Next Door' - left him last year.

Hugh, 82, is now dating 19-year-old twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon and Crystal Harris, 22.
