Huh? We didn't see this one coming, last we heard, this couple called it quits after having a beautiful baby girl together! Well, actress Salma Hayek tied the knot with the Gucci Group CEO, French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, in a civil ceremony in Paris, France on Saturday (Valentine’s Day, February 14). How romantic (yet sort of cliche, too.)! According to Forbes, Francois is worth an estimated $16.9 billion. Holy moley! That kid was born to the right parents!

Salma, 42, and Francois, 46, met in Italy in 2006, announced their engagement and had a baby, Valentina Paloma, in September 2007. They broke off their engagement July 2008 but later reunited. They definitely pulled a fast one on the media, I bet no one bothered them on their special day! Congrats to the happy couple!

Salma Hayek let "Nightline" and Cynthia McFadden follow her on a goodwill trip to Sierra Leone a few months ago, and while there she breastfeed a newborn baby boy whose mother had no milk.

Hayek's own daughter Valentina turned one just before she took the trip.

She spoke of the incident recently, and it turns out "Nightline" aired video of the feeding.
"The baby was perfectly healthy, but the mother didn't have milk. He was very hungry. I was weaning Valentina, but I still had a lot of milk that I was pumping, so I breast-fed the baby. You should have seen his eyes. When he felt the nourishment, he immediately stopped crying."

Salma Hayek Wet-Nurses in Africa

Actress Salma Hayek nursed a starving baby in front of an ABC News crew while on a trip to Sierra Leone in support of a tetanus vaccination project. She did this, she told the camera crew, in compassion for a starving child, but also to help lift a breastfeeding stigma in Africa, where men think that women cannot have sex while still nursing. "So the husbands, of course, of these women are really encouraging them to stop," Hayek said.

The mother of this baby boy is an obvious victim of this stigma. Hayek intervened with her emergency nursing because the mother simply had no milk. While the child, who was born the same day as Hayek's own daughter, will need a lot more nursing to make it safely out of infancy, Hayek's gesture could help relieve the African situation.

For those in the United States, Hayek has crossed many stigma lines as well. Cross-nursing or wet-nursing, in which one woman occasionally suckles another's baby, has long been considered a taboo in America. The later even denotes classism. Despite the taboo, cross-nursing has been on the rise. Nadya Suleman, mother of the octuplets, has been receiving breast milk donations to help feed her newborns.

Experts say that the cross-nursing taboo has nothing to do with class, but the safety of the mother and child. Even organizations that support sharing of breast milk do so conditionally, through the intermediary breast-pump. The Human Milk Banking Association of North America, which screens and distributes donated milk to hospitals across the U.S. and Canada, requires that its milk be pasteurized before distribution. The child Hayek nursed was reportedly healthy, and Hayek is reported to show no signs of illness.

No matter the outcome of Hayek's actions, the video has become an overnight internet sensation, reaching record views on YouTube. EW.com gave the clip its "biggest eyebrow-raiser" of the day award.

The actress is convinced 16-month-old Valentina has a sixth sense that allows her to communicate with spirits and admits her child's behaviour scared her.

She said on US TV series 'The Rachel Ray Show': "Last night she saw a ghost. I'm convinced. She woke up and her eyes were open. And she's looking at one specific point and she's going, 'No no no no, au revoir,' which means goodbye in French. And she's looking at someone, but there's no one there. I was so scared, and I'm like, 'Yes, au revoir, whoever you are, get out!' And then she started saying it in English, 'Bye bye, bye bye!'

"I guess she was trying in different languages to see what nationality this ghost was to go away. It was terrifying!"

The actress also revealed she pretended Alec Baldwin was her boyfriend Francois Pinault during a recent love scene when she guested on sitcom '30 Rock'.

Salma said: "I keep telling Francois, 'I imagined I was kissing you.' "

Meanwhile, video footage of 42-year-old Salma breastfeeding an African child during a charity mission to Sierra Leone has been broadcast on US television.

Explaining why she nourished the boy, the 42-year-old star said: "The mother didn't have milk. He was very hungry. I was weaning Valentina, but I still had a lot of milk that I was pumping, so I breastfed the baby."When he felt the nourishment, he immediately stopped crying."

Salma Hayek Signs Up for More "Rock"

Salma Hayek is sticking around "30 Rock."

NBC announced on Friday that the actress, who plays Jack Donaghy's (Alec Baldwin) love interest Elisa, will be a recurring character on the series.

"I am so excited to be part of such an intelligent, funny show, as well as working with the brilliant Alec Baldwin and the rest of the cast of '30 Rock,'" Salma said in a statement released to Access Hollywood.

"30 Rock" premieres on October 30 (Thursday, 9:30-10 p.m. ET).

Actress SALMA HAYEK has fuelled reports she is back with her ex-fiance FRANCOIS-HENRI PINAULT after the couple was spotted together at his Balenciaga fashion show in Paris, France on Tuesday (30Sep08).

Hayek and the French billionaire announced their split in July (08).

But the pair, who share one-year-old daughter Valentina together, appear to have reunited after attending the high-profile event during Paris Fashion Week.

An onlooker tells People.com, "(They were) very friendly together, looking happy. They weren't holding hands but were definitely side by side."

The public outing comes just weeks after they were seen out together in Los Angeles.

Salma Hayek Calls Off Engagement to Billionaire

Salma Hayek and her billionaire babydaddy, fiance Francois-Henri Pinault, are kaput.

“We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been canceled,” Hayek’s rep told USA Today. “There will be no further comment.”

In April, the 41-year-old actress told Glamour magazine that marriage doesn’t make a difference in a relationship.

“Do I think we are going to get married? Probably. Will it make a difference? I hope not,” she said.

“You want to grow old with someone, you want to have a partner and to have children — we have all those things,” Hayek added. “Some people need the commitment. Maybe we’ll just make the party!”

The couple became in engaged in March of last year and welcomed daughter Valentina in September.

Valentina is the first child for Hayek. Pinault, 45, has two children from a previous marriage.

Hayek’s rep did not immediately return our call for comment.


"Well I personally can say that I totally agree with her on that. Selma voice's a good statement! Marriage is not for everyone! I do not think that if you’re married that you still will be more committed to that person. The divorce rate has hit and all time high. I think we all need to ask ourselves are we doing it because we believe in marriage? Or are we doing it because it’s how our society has always been since the beginning of time?"
