Nick Carter insists he's over his struggle with substance abuse

Nick Carter insists he’s over his drinks and drug demons.

The Backstreet Boys star has struggled with substances abuse and alcoholism for ten years.

But Nick, 29, has sorted himself after being diagnosed with heart condition cardiomyopathy.

‘I don't want to die,’ he tells People. ‘I don't want to be that person people read about and think, “That's sad that he couldn't stop it and killed himself.”’

Nick has now adopted a healthy lifestyle and has lost 57lbs.

Nick Carter's Mom Arrested

The Carter's are a pretty crazy family. Backstreet Boy Nick Carter has got to go bail his mom out of jail.

Nick Carter's mother was arrested yesterday, allegedly over a really nasty divorce hearing. Here's the mugshot!

Jane Carter, aka Jane Holcomb, was divorced from a guy named John Holcomb. There are still some legal odds and ends to deal with, including an allegation that she trashed the house they once shared.

After filing legal papers, Jane was supposed to appear in court and didn't. A Florida judge wants her butt in jail for not appearing and he's ordered a bench warrant. She was picked up today in Sumter County at a cemetery where the construction company she works for was doing a project. Geez. Classy. Her son is a Backstreet Boy, he's got tons of money, why is she working for a contruction company?!

Nick Carter: 'DUI Arrest Taught Me To Be A Good Guy'.

Former Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter is determined not to follow ex-girlfriend Paris Hilton to prison because his run-in with the law has taught him to be a good guy.

The pop singer was arrested for drink driving in California in March 2005 and he insists he'll never do anything that stupid again.

He tells People magazine, "I got a DUI, I did the classes and I went in and did my AA meetings that they made me do.

"I will never ever get behind the wheel and drink again. I learned so much and it was so good for me.

"I did everything I was supposed to do when they told me to do it. It helped me so much."
