Mika New Single..."We Are Golden"

MySpace Music and Casablanca/Universal Republic Records will unveil the first single and title track from British singing sensation MIKA's new album, WE ARE GOLDEN. The lavish new single will be streamed exclusively for 24 hours only, beginning 9:00 AM EST and will be featured on the MySpace homepage as well as Mika's MySpace profile.

The acclaimed Mika - who has drawn comparisons to Hall of Fame caliber showman such as Freddie Mercury and Elton John – enjoys a global following thanks to his colorful musical repertoire, cathartic stage-presence, and multi-platform connectivity of his dazzling 2007 debut album, Life In Cartoon Motion. The riveting debut album spawned several worldwide pop anthems, including “Grace Kelly,” “Love Today,” and “Relax”; sold over 5 million copies worldwide; as well as garnering unprecedented critical praise and a host of Awards and nominations including Grammys, Brit Awards, World Music Awards, and the UK’s most prestigious songwriting honor, the Ivor Novello Award.

After a string of sold-out tours across the globe, Mika began to set his sights on delivering a new album for fans. Produced by Mika and Greg Wells (Katy Perry, P!nk), We Are Golden features guest contributions by Imogen Heap and Final Fantasy’s Owen Pallett, among others. It retains a breadth of vision that speaks not only to Mika's extraordinary melodic sensibilities, but also to the incredible stories he tells within his songs. A video for the soaring new single is currently in pre-production, and will be helmed by acclaimed Swedish director Jonas Akerlund. Look for Mika’s We Are Golden CD in-stores September 22.

Mika Was Bullied By His Teacher In School

The 'Grace Kelly' singer, who was ridiculed by fellow pupils throughout his childhood, claims he was shocked when his "nasty" teacher began picking on him.

He told Seven magazine: "The bullying was out of control. I was even picked on by one of my teachers, a female teacher.

"I don't know why she did it. I didn't provoke her. I wasn't the first and I imagine I wasn't the last she picked on. She was just a nasty piece of work. I wasn't brave. I was not a fighter in the classroom. I lost I was lame. I admit it. I saw myself more as the slow and stubborn turtle who quietly got on with what he was doing, knowing I would one day win the race."

The 23-year-old flamboyant star believes the bullying he suffered as a child caused his dyslexia to spiral out of control.

He said: "They used to throw things at me and call me a f***ing poof. I stopped talking and then I stopped reading and writing. That was baaad. I couldn't even write the name of my school. It was weird because at seven I could sight-read, then all my problems with dyslexia started. To this day I cannot sight-read. I cannot spell properly. My verbal IQ is high but not my written IQ!"
