Iron Man Two - Too Much Information

The buzz with Iron Man 2 is in keeping with the Iron Man concept. Tech heavy. Director Jon Favreau is twittering about it. He posted his own exclusive photo from the set recently. See Below:
So what's with the doughnut shop? Iron Man takes a comedic turn in this scene where he stops for box of doughnuts and Nick Fury calls up from ground level asking if he wants coffee with them. Here he is sitting in the dougnut.

Iron Man 2 is set to release in June of 2010. There are a lot of Marvel titles set to release in tandem with a great deal of cross over in the cards. Most fanboys are waiting for all the individual characters whom make up the Avengers to get films complete so the assembled Avengers team up movie can be made featuring Tony Stark and Nick Fury.

Marvel Resets Release Dates

No wonder with rumors abounding over is Micky Rourke in Iron Man 2 (yes, confirmed by Marvel) to is Kenneth Branagh going to direct or perhaps even star in the Thor movie? Branagh is the director folks -- well...Marvel has opted to reset the timetable of release dates for the following movies:

Iron Man 2 May 2010
Thor moved back a year to June 2011
Captain America July 2011
Spider-Man 4 May 2011
Avengers May 2012

With Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury and locked into as many nine films, the stage is set for each character to be established in their own film then segued into the Avengers film in 2012. Marvel is on record as being committed to eventually releasing two films per year.

As for Branagh; he is directing Thor and was seen recently eating dinner with Alexander SkarsgÄrd whom clearly fits the build for the lead role of Thor towering at 6'4" in stature.

In other news, the Fantastic 4 appears to be subject to recasting. No word if this is yet another reboot as in the case of Hulk. In the case of Hulk, despite the reboot, Marvel was wise enough not to put fans through a restart. The Fantastic 4 may get a new cast, but it appears we will not be required to experience an whole new restart of the story line.

Sam Rockwell on Justin Hammer for Iron Man 2

Last week we broke news on Sam Rockwell portraying Iron Man's adversary Justin Hammer along with other Iron Man 2 news involving Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury. We have more to report on Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer and Mickey Rourke.

Sam Rockwell gave a brief interview at Sundance (see below) where he shares that he knows as little about Justin Hammer as many Iron Man enthusiasts. Will Sam play him as an older character, or simply polished and refined where Stark is a brazen playboy? In addition we reported that Mikey Rourke may play The Crimson Dynamo. That may not be the case. He may play Whiplash. Stay tuned...

Super Rumours on Iron Man 2

Last week we reported that Iron Man's director Jon Favreau (Think Swingers and director of Elf) was zoning in on Tim Robbins to replace Gerard Sanders as Howard Stark, Tony Stark's father. Don Cheadle has already been slotted to replace Terrence Howard as Rhodey whom as all graphic novel readers already know is destined to become the character War Machine.

Despite what is said to be a very tight lid on production and details, PCM has learned that Favreau is in discussions over primary villain roles with both Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke.

To keep things real Rockwell's character would be industrialist Justin Hammer (Hammer Industries), Stark's corporate nemesis, also sharing Tony Stark's lush lifestyle as a fellow billionaire extraordinaire opposing Stark on the business end. Remember, someone had to fill the vacuum as a weapons supplier when Stark got out of the weapons business. Justin Hammer is diametrical to Tony Stark, a methodical and refined gentlemen to Stark's free wheeling Playboy. I somehow don't see Rockwell playing Hammer as a recluse in a smoking jacket; Hammer is sure to undergo a character change for the film. The addition of a mastermind will surely keep the intelligence level of Iron Man Two up to par with the quality story we received in the first Iron Man installment.

Micky Rourke would pick up the cherry role of Anton Vanko, the Crimson Dynamo. Now which of the many (5) incarnates of Crimson Dynamo Mickey would portray is a mystery. Most likely it would be the Anton Vanko version (the first). As for super villian powers, he controls electricity and can fly.

Principal production on Iron Man Two is set to start spring of 2009 as Iron Man Two's theater release date is May 7, 2010.
